Privacy
The short version: we do not want your documents, and we have built the product so that we mostly never receive them.

What happens to your files
Almost every tool on PDFnexly runs inside your browser using WebAssembly and the browser's own rendering engine. For those tools, your file is opened, processed and saved on your device. It is never uploaded, so there is nothing for us to store, read or lose. You can confirm this by opening your browser's network inspector while you work, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.
A small number of conversions — Office and HTML documents — need a real document engine that cannot run in a browser. Those tools are clearly labelled, and they are only shown at all when a deployment has the self-hosted processing service enabled. For them:
- the file is sent over an encrypted connection to our own server, not a third party;
- it is written to an isolated temporary directory named with a random identifier;
- it is converted by a sandboxed process with no network access;
- the input and the result are deleted automatically, within minutes at most;
- document contents are never logged.
What we collect
No account, no email address, no name. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, we do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell anything to anyone because there is nothing to sell.
The only data stored on your device is a single preference for your light or dark theme, kept in local storage. Clearing your browser data removes it.
For server-side conversions we keep an in-memory count of recent requests per network address, hashed with a secret salt, purely to stop one visitor overwhelming the service. It expires within a minute and is never written to disk.
Your rights
Because we do not hold personal data, there is normally nothing to access, correct or erase. If you believe we hold something relating to you, write to us at support@pdfnexly.com and we will look into it.
Children
The service is a general-purpose file utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
