Questions about compress pdf

How do I compress a PDF to 100KB?

Choose “To a target size” and select 100 KB. We try progressively stronger settings and measure the real output each time, starting with passes that keep your text selectable and only rasterising if that is not enough. If 100 KB is not reachable for your document, you get the smallest file we managed and we tell you its size.

How do I reduce a PDF to 1MB or 2MB?

Pick the matching target, or type any size in KB. Larger ceilings are usually met on the first or second attempt, which means the text layer survives and the pages stay sharp.

How much smaller will my file get?

It depends entirely on the document. Scans and image-heavy PDFs often shrink by 60-90%, while a text-only PDF may already be close to optimal and barely change.

Will compression damage the text?

The Better quality and Recommended presets keep the page structure and re-encode images. Maximum compression rasterises pages, which produces the smallest file but converts text into an image.
